Visiting an Irish school

On Friday we visited a school in Clondalkin. We took the train and then the bus, and after about two hours we arrived. We were welcomed by a few of the students, who then escorted us to the school.

Once inside, we were led to a half-circle of chairs and tables where we were informed that there would be a "getting to know each other" session in a speed dating format. I think a lot of us were taken quite aback by that as we had imagined just sitting in a classroom, watching and maybe talking to the pupils during the breaks. But after the initial akwardness the activity became really enjoyable. Most of the students could speak some basic German, which was cool. After about half an hour of talking to each other, all of us went to the outdoor soccer field. Some of the boys from both schools started a friendly soccer match. Altough it started to rain, watching the game was a lot of fun and the atmosphere was great. The Irish boyos (irish slang for lads/boys) won and got a wooden cup. We got another few minutes to talk to the students and then it was already time to say goodbye. Some of us exchanged social media handles, but then it was really time to go. We got on the bus and drove back.
